Nativo del sur-centro de México, es columnar, con tallos que se ramifican en la base. Por lo general, tienen sólo 5 a 7 costillas y cuando crece genera una prurina gris y patrones atractivos en los tallos, de ahí el nombre de "Fantasma Gris". Produce nocturna flores blancas con un tinte rosado y, como otros stenos, la fruta tiene espinas, es comestible.
Native to south-central Mexico, is columnar with stems that branch at the base. Usually have only 5 to 7 ribs and the new growth produces a grey powdery bloom and attractive patterns on the stems, hence the name "Grey Ghost". It produces nocturnal white flowers with a pinkish tinge and like the other Stenos the fruit is spiny till ripe, and edible.
