WIGGINSIA

The genus is endemic to southeastern South America, from central and northeastern Argentina, Uruguay through the whole, until the state of Parana in southern Brazil. It is composed of about 6 species, of which at least four live in Argentina.
He currently the species was transferred to parodia, but it is better to keep separating them in a separate genus because they are quite different. While the flowers are very similar, the fruits remain within the hair disc, it generates when they are maturing, and finally emerge with sensitive skin, pink, covered with bristles only at its end. On the other hand their stems are very wide, to completely flat, whereas in Parodia are clearly more globose.
