Myrtillocactus es un género pequeño de plantas de porte arbóreo provenientes de México. El nombre fue dado por el italiano Michelangelo Console, resaltando la semejanza de los frutos con los del arandano (Vaccinum myrtillus).En verano, aparecen grandes cantidades de flores blancas y pequeñas, seguidas por pequeños frutos de color azul que son comestibles.El género se propaga habitualmente por esquejes que deben ser cortados preferentemente en el momento mas calido del año. Los cortes ramifican desde la base y la planta en cultivo va tomando forma arbustiva a medida que crece. Aparentemente, sólo los ejemplares cultivados desde semillas producen tronco.El género tolera bien algo de frío por breves períodos y requiere pleno sol.
Myrtillocactus is a genus of plants bearing small tree from Mexico. The name was given by the Italian Michelangelo Console, highlighting the similarity of the fruits of the bilberry (Vaccinum myrtillus). In summer, there are large numbers of small white flowers followed by small blue fruits that are edible. Gender is usually propagated by cuttings, which should preferably be cut at the hottest time of year. The cuts from the branch base and growing the plant is taking shape as it grows bushy. Apparently, only specimens grown from seeds produced trunk. Gender something well tolerated for short periods of cold and requires full sun.
